Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has found himself in trouble while he was enjoying his holidays in Greece. The centre-back had flown to Greece with his friends after United’s defeat to Sevilla in the semi-final of the Europa League. Maguire was arrested yesterday and had to spend the night in a jail cell reportedly, and will appear a court hearing later today.
Maguire has been accused of hitting a Greek police officer and one of his friends was allegedly bribing the policemen. All the three accused have been taken to Syros and will appear in a chamber later today. But Maguire’s lawyer has been constant and has said that the defender is innocent and has done no wrong, as he has been accused of.
Harry Maguire’s lawyer has said that: “Maguire denies the allegations against him. Fortunately, we will get rid of it tomorrow.” According to The Sun, Maguire will return to England and does not have to attend a hearing on Tuesday in Greece. Maguire is now a “free man” and is expected to fly back to Manchester anytime soon.
Harry Maguire might face severe consequences at Manchester United following his brawl in Greece. There are chances that his captaincy might be stripped off of him and he might also face a fine.
