Man United eye Leon Goretzka as a potential replacement for Pogba

Manchester United has a new target this summer as they eye Leon Goretzka as a perfect replacement for Paul Pogba.

As indicated by German outlet SportBild, the Red Devils see Goretzka as a like-to-like swap for Paul Pogba whose contract situation seems entangled.

The Frenchman will be able to talk to other clubs regarding a move from next January. It’s not a good sight for United to see one of their most important player leaving without any transfer fee.

Goretzka additionally has only one more year left in his current contract with the Bundesliga champions. He will expand his contract however the German outfit is yet to offer him a fresh new contract that satisfies his wage demands of around €19.5 million every year.

The 26-year old joined Bayern in the late summer of 2018 and has been a vital player for their squad as he has been involved in the majority of the games for his club.  He has played 112 times for Bayern, scoring 25 goals and providing 27 assists. He is an average box-to-box midfielder who loves to make late runs into the opposition box.

In the event that Pogba fails to commit his future to United, they should capitalize on him this late spring. His release will be heartbreaking for the team as he is seen as an important player by most of his teammates but if he wants to leave then he should not be allowed to go for free.

Goretzka will be a good player but Pogba is a brilliant midfielder and he will certainly not be a complete midfielder like Pogba. Manchester United should try their best to keep hold of Pogba and offer an improved contract to him.

With the arrival of Jadon Sancho now all but confirmed, it may help United prosper more in attacking positions and Pogba may also have a role in it. We expect Solksjaer to sign a world-class defensive midfielder as well to assist Pogba and make his role even simpler.
