Man United have received a major boost in their pursuit of signing Goncalo Ramos

According to the Mirror, Manchester United’s chances of signing Goncalo Ramos are increasing as renowned agent Jorge Mendes has been authorized to facilitate the sale of the talented youngster.

United’s attempts to secure Harry Kane from Tottenham have faced major obstacles. However, Benfica is open to selling their promising young striker, Ramos, who impressively scored 25 goals for both his club and country this season.

Benfica, known for its track record of nurturing and selling talented players, have given Jorge Mendes the approval to capitalize on the transfer of Ramos this summer.

The 21-year-old Portuguese striker gained recognition when he replaced Cristiano Ronaldo in the national team’s starting lineup and scored a hat-trick against Switzerland in the World Cup round of 16.

This season, Ramos has successfully filled the void left by Darwin Nunez at Benfica after the Uruguayan’s £85 million transfer to Liverpool last summer.

His parent club is now seeking a similarly lucrative deal, expecting a minimum fee of £80 million, along with potential additional bonuses, for their emerging goal-scorer.

Man United manager Erik Ten Hag is keen to strengthen his team’s attacking options, as Marcus Rashford finished the previous season as the top scorer with 30 goals, significantly ahead of Bruno Fernandes with 14.

Initially, Tottenham’s Kane was seen as the ideal target, given his contract’s expiration in a year. However, Spurs’ owner Daniel Levy is firm on not selling their star player at a discounted price, demanding at least £100 million for his transfer this summer.

Kane, who will turn 30 soon, is unlikely to force a move knowing he could receive more lucrative offers next summer when he becomes a free agent.

While United has also been keeping an eye on Victor Osimhen’s progress at Napoli, the Serie A champions are only open to selling him for a substantial fee.

Consequently, United is considering cheaper alternatives such as Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.

The potential signing of Ramos would likely excite United fans more than the alternatives, following his impressive performances for Portugal in the World Cup.

Ramos has received public praise from his international teammate Fernandes, who has also mentioned the possibility of a move to Old Trafford.

It is believed that Ten Hag will still have the opportunity to make transfers despite the uncertain future of the club’s ownership.
