Man United Join Arsenal In The Race To Sign Everton Star Amadou Onana

According to the Spanish outlet Sport, Manchester United and Arsenal have joined the race to sign Everton defensive midfielder Amadou Onana this summer.

Amadou Onana

The 21-year-old star has been a consistent performer for the Toffees since moving to the Goodison Park from Lille in 2022.

Onana has been a target for United in the past transfer windows as well owing to his energetic showing in the midfield region.

However, it has now been said that the Red Devils have reignited their interest in the African ace this season. English rivals Arsenal are also keeping an eye on the player’s status at the club.

These clubs aren’t alone in this race. Spanish giants Barcelona have also enquired about the player who is made available for €60 million.

Everton are looking for a sale if the above stated price is met by any interested team. Anything less than that will be rejected by the Toffees.

Do Man United need to splash hefty sum to sign Onana?

We believe that spending figures above €60m for Onana seems too much since the player is yet to prove himself on the bigger stages.

Everton wants to collect funds since they are already struggling in the relegation battle and will need them if in case they land in the Championship.

Asking anything above €50m will take Barcelona out of the equation since they are not ready to offer that sum. Arsenal and United have tabled their offers but it remains to be seen whether they are flexible enough to negotiate on their current terms.

Man United could be without Casemiro next season if the Brazilian decides to move to Saudi Arabia this summer. Loanee Sofyan Amrabat will also return back to Fiorentina.

Erik ten Hag’s side will only have Kobbie Mainoo and Scott McTominay to operate as key defensive midfielders.

Signing a new CDM will be a necessity but it wouldn’t be a wise decision to agree to Everton’s asking price for Onana.
