As stated on the club’s official website, Manchester United have announced the end of their inquiry into the Mason Greenwood case. However, they have not yet arrived at a verdict regarding his future with the club.
The 21 years old has been absent from United’s matches since his arrest in January 2022. This followed the circulation of a video and pictures on social media depicting a purported sexual assault.
Accusations of attempted rape, coercive behaviour, and physical assault resulting in bodily harm were dismissed in February this year.
The team initiated a comprehensive examination of the allegations levelled against Greenwood, utilizing substantial evidence and undisclosed contextual information.

Man United have stated that the ultimate decision lies with CEO Richard Arnold, and this decision will be disclosed when appropriate.
Contrary to reports from The Athletic, stating that Arnold has already communicated to the club’s management about Greenwood’s reinstatement have been refuted by the club.
In spite of the statement issued by United today, it appears that the club is moving towards reintegrating Greenwood into the first-team squad.
The decision requires communication with several important stakeholders, which could be the reason behind the delay in confirming what appears to be an inevitable outcome.
Man United are making significant efforts to emphasize that the public’s judgment of the English star has been based on “incomplete information available to the public.”
While this argument holds some validity, it is undeniable that the information made public did not cast Greenwood in a positive light.
The concept of “rehabilitation” for Greenwood has been widely discussed, adding another factor for United to consider in this case.

Nevertheless, permitting the youngster to resume his career with the club might attract substantial criticism for United, especially during a period when they cannot afford external distractions.
The potential risks involved seem to outweigh any potential benefits in this situation, and it will be interesting to observe how Man United handles the situation when they eventually make the decision public.
