Man United set to test Real Madrid by submitting a bid for Marco Asensio

Manchester United are interested in the services of Real Madrid star Marco Asensio and are open to the option of placing a bid for the Spaniard.

The Red Devils will be knowing the fact that it would not be easy to pull off this deal as Carlo Ancelotti would personally want the 26-year-old to be a key player in his plans. The manager has also revealed that the player is searching for options to leave.

According to the Express, United will launch a formal offer worth €30million to lure Asensio to Old Trafford. It would be a blow to Madrid if they lose another star in the last few days of the transfer window.

United are stacked with attacking options and with the impending arrival of Antony, the club will have enough options upfront. Cody Gakpo is also closely linked with a move and the board are working on both the deals.

However, the Spanish attacker has just one year left on his present contract. Los Blancos President Florentino Perez will not be a happy man if they let Asensio leave for nothing. The new offer from United is sounding more of a ‘take it or leave it’ type of a deal.

The 26-year-old’s refusal to sign a new contract with the La Liga giants had ignited interest from Liverpool and Newcastle United earlier in the summer. But both the clubs were unable to meet at common grounds with the player and his situation is still the same.

It would make sense for United to sign Asensio as he can operate on both the wings. The Spanish attacker had his best campaign last year as he scored 12 goals in all competitions. He is still in his prime and could come contribute alot of goals to Erik ten Hag’s side.

However, securing this deal would not be easy as the club are already well stacked in attack and have been putting all their attention on Antony.

Currently, the board are focused on signing a winger, a back-up goalkeeper, a central midfielder and a right-back before the transfer window shuts close.
