According to Fabrizio Romano, the Manchester United board are having internal conversations regarding the possibility of signing PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo.
The Ajax star Antony still seems to be the Red Devils’ first priority, despite the Netherlands international’s strong competition. However, this deal would not be the only one in sight of the management.
After reaching a €17 million (£14.4 million) deal with Juventus for the midfielder, the Manchester Giants are still in talks with Adrien Rabiot’s representatives.

After a shaky start to the season that included his team’s 2-1 loss to Brighton at Old Trafford last weekend, United boss Erik ten Hag is hoping to strengthen his attacking unit.
Edinson Cavani left the Red Devils in June after his contract expired, thus the team has already lost a backup striker. Cristiano Ronaldo has also told the team that he plans to leave in the summer in order to compete in the Champions League this year.
Ten Hag would be prepared in case Ronaldo decides to go, and they want to have a stand-in striker ready to take over for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
With 21 goals and 15 assists in 46 appearances, Gakpo could be a good option for a club that has already been losing numerous top targets this summer. Their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong is still up in the air and they have not been able to keep any significant backup plan in place.
It remains to be seen whether the club would again try to sign emergency players as they did under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
