Man United target Fabian Ruiz set to join PSG this summer

The 2022 summer transfer window has not been the best for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag. To make it even worse, the Red Devil’s top target, Fabian Ruiz, is now expected to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Ruiz’s transfer to the French city is reportedly a part of Luis Campos’ new secret plan and the talks with the Spanish international have reportedly been continuing for weeks, according to Fabrizio Romano.

When Ruiz’s contract expires next summer, it was expected that a number of elite clubs would be interested in making this signing, but PSG are winning the race. Romano will probably say, “Here we go,” as the deal gets closer to being finalised.

In relation to their midfield right now, the Red Devils are in a challenging scenario.

They have been pursuing Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong for the whole of the summer. Due to the Dutchman’s preference to remain with the Catalan powerhouses and United’s lack of Champions League football to offer, the move is extremely difficult to complete.

Moreover, it might be even harder for Erik ten Hag to persuade his ex-player to team up with him once more given that Chelsea are now solidifying their interest.

This season, Ten Hag can rely on Fred, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek, and James Garner as his centre midfielders.

The first two have frequently served as United’s consistent starting XI players, but have not been particularly effective.

However, Van de Beek has had a much harder experience, finding it difficult to adjust to the Premier League both at Old Trafford and when on loan at Everton.

Although Garner is a more intriguing potential, it seems risky to rely on him to bring some creativity to the midfield given that he has yet to make a Premier League start in his career.
