Man United target Milinkovic-Savic is close to leaving Lazio

Manchester United transfer target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could be leaving SS Lazio this summer, according to Daily Star.

Until now, the 26-year-old has appeared in 264 games for the Serie A club in all competitions. During that time, he has helped Biancocelesti score 50 goals and provided 43 assists. He has been a key member of the midfield and may be a valuable addition to United if Paul Pogba decides to leave Old Trafford.

For the Serbian footballer, the Manchester-based club is expected to face competition from other possible suitors like Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Also, Pogba’s current Manchester United deal will end next summer. Jesse Lingard, meanwhile, has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent months, owing to a lack of meaningful game time. Should both of the Red Devils’ top midfielders depart, the team might be left with a void to fill.

Milinkovic-Savic has been mentioned as a possible replacement for the French international, and his top-flight experience may be a huge plus if the Red Devils are able to sign him. His signing might be a fantastic boost, allowing the club to compete at a higher level in a variety of competitions.

While the Lazio star has been at Lazio till now, rising interest and the chance of a lucrative transfer deal could mean a change of fortunes for the Serbian.

There has recently been a lot of commotion at Old Trafford regarding the managerial post and Milinkovic-Savic could be one of the few stars making it to the team as the club aims for a transition.

The Manchester United team features world-class players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, as well as young dynamic attackers like Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, and Marcus Rashford. While the skill and potential are there, the club requires a leader with the right mentality to help them gel and play consistently.

They may be able to land a player like Milinkovic-Savic who is in the prime of his career and has established himself at the highest level. In the years to come, his abilities will make him an important player for the team.

A new manager might signal a shift in the club’s playing style, with supporters eager to witness a more thrilling and attacking type of football.

It remains to be seen whether the 26-year-old Serbian midfielder can assist the team in achieving that goal under the appropriate circumstances. If he makes it to Old Trafford, only time will tell.
