As reported by the club’s official website, Man United right-back Ethan Laird has joined Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season.
The young 20-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Swansea City, but he has now moved to Bournemouth in the middle of the season, marking another step forward in his career.
You might wonder why Manchester United sent Ethan Laird from one Championship club to another, but Bournemouth is expected to fight for the Premier League title this season, and they want the young right-back to help them achieve that goal.
Laird was super proud of joining Sanswea as he said:
‘I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity to play for such a big club. The last few months have been a privilege, I have really felt the love from the fans and the community from day one. You have made me feel at home and your support has been incredible.”
Laird was on the rise at Swansea, having progressed from a loan spell at MK Dons the previous season, where he made 20 League One appearances. Laird has appeared twice in the Europa League for United but has yet to play in the Premier League.
If Laird can obtain title-winning experience while with the Cherries, who are attempting to return to the Premier League, it will be tremendous for him.
He’ll be competing against guys who are expected to be top-flight stars next season, which is precisely what he needs right now.
United made a good decision, and it is a win-win situation for both the parties involved.
