Man United vs Arsenal Player Ratings EPL 19/20 [Game Week 7]

Manchester United drew to Arsenal 1-1 in a game which witnessed ‘the most controversial VAR decision’ up until now. United led the game until the half, thanks to a superbly taken strike from Scott McTominay. His effort gave United a single point as PE Aubameyang went on to equalise in the 58′ minute after first being ruled offside which was then awarded a goal using VAR technology. Many pundits stated that the ‘clear’ error from the linesman caused United players to “switch off”.

David De Gea – GK – 6.5

Made a crucial double save off Saka and then Guedouzi to deny the Gunners maximum points. Had a better game than many United players. Could’ve done better to deal with the Aubameyang goal where he didn’t open his body like he did on previous occasions.

Ashley Young – RB – 6

Wasn’t relevant in the game. United definitely missed Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s monstrous runs offensively. Lost the ball a whopping 26 times. Booked.

Victor Lindelöf – CB – 7

Didn’t look that composed on the ball, like he normally does but a nice overall display from the Swede. Won his battles with Aubameyang. Caught bird watching when Saka broke through.

Harry Maguire – CB – 6.5

Bizzare game for the England international. Had 0 interceptions and 2 clearances in the entire game. Was ruled offside twice. The guilty party to Arsenal’s equaliser. Looked strong aerially.

Axel Tuanzebe – LB – 5.5

Was by far the best player of the back 4 until the his mistake to give the ball away cheaply led to the goal. Won just 2 out of 11 duels, had 3 interceptions and just the single successful tackle.

Scott McTominay – CDM – 7.5

Sound display from the Scot. Imperious in the first half and made his presence felt on the pitch. Scored a worldie to give United the lead. Could have doubled his scoring had he kept his header down. Won 11 duels but his passing wasn’t that accurate last night.

Paul Pogba – CM/CDM – 6.5

Couldn’t dominate the middle like he’s done previously. Created opportunities every now and then. Sprayed the ball and did it successfully. Can’t doubt his work rate.

Andreas Periera – RM – 6

Should’ve scored from his chance early in the game, was saved very well by Bernd Leno. That shot caught Sir Alex Ferguson’s eye. An improvement from past games. Muted presence. Just the 13 passes.

Jesse Lingard – CAM – 6

Still isn’t finding his top game. Had a nice run but couldn’t offer more. His game off the ball is still good to be honest. Booked.

Daniel James – LM – 7

Caused nuisance to Chambers down the wing. Bombed inside the box on every chance he got. Pretty decent game yet again.
Still the bright spark for United in this dull season.

Marcus Rashford – 7

Could’ve have won it down in stoppage time only to see his freekick outstandingly saved by Leno. Should’ve done better during some chances. Looked like he had lost his pace.
Booked.

Substitutes –

Fred – 6

Did not have enough time to do something substantial.

Mason Greenwood – N/A

Should’ve controlled his only chance better to score.
