Manchester United 1-1 Leicester City Match Report-EPL-2021/22

Another humiliating night for the Red Devils as the game ended with a 1-1 score line. As we come towards the end of the season and only 8 games left in hand, the hope for the top-four is diminishing every game day. Another crucial points drop in the top-four race now gives Arsenal a hefty advantage to get that spot secured.

Match Proceedings-

Harvey Barnes almost scored within the first two minutes of the game when his shot just went past David De Gea which was initially assisted by a James Maddison free-kick. Minutes later, Paul PogbaPogba’s header was easily collected by Kasper Schmeichel.

Bruno Fernandes came very close to score United’s first goal of the fixture just before the 30th min mark which was brilliantly saved by Schmeichel. Bruno again produced a wonderful pass to Jadon Sancho and Elanga who failed to capitalise this brilliant chance. Luke Shaw seems to be injured and was substituted in the 2nd half giving Alex Telles the green light.

Iheanacho headed home from an accurate cross from Maddison. Bruno Fernandes was stopped in his tracks while trying to catch hold of the ball put forward by Fred. Just within the next two minutes, United equalised when a Bruno Fernandes shot was saved by Schmeichel and that rebound helped Fred make the best out of it.

In the 70th minute of the game, David De Gea made a jaw-dropping save. Wesley Fofana almost scored the goal and that is exactly when De Gea came to the rescue. The visitors then had the ball in the back of the net with 10 minutes remaining, as Maddison beat De Gea at his near post, only for VAR to later disallow the goal for a foul in the build-up by Iheanacho on Raphael Varane.

In the extra-time, Marcus Rashford almost scored the winning goal for United and that is when he collided with Elanga resulting in Schmeichel to catch hold of the ball easily.

This fixture saw us Maguire being very composed throughout the game. It seemed as if he enjoyed playing the game with all his heart. On the other hand, Fred has been on a scintillating form ever since Ragnick took over the managerial job. Fred has managed to score 1 goal, have 89% pass completion and have 12 ball recoveries to his name.
