Manchester United FC go through an uncomfortable win against LASK at Old Trafford, that takes them to the quarter-final of Europa League. United win the match with a 2-1 scoreline which makes the aggregate score over both the legs of 7-1. Jesse Lingard and Antony Martial scored the goals as the Red Devils came back from a 1-nil deficit.
United fielded a weakened side against LASK, which showed from the onset as the Austrian side dominated proceeding on the first 15 minutes. The Red Devils were culprits of playing slow football and were toothless in front of the goal. United didn’t register a shot on target in the first half, but things changed when LASK took the lead via a stunner from Wiesinger.
But United soon equalized with Jesse Lingard who coolly slotted the ball into the net after running one-on-one with the goalkeeper. United could have scored way more as James, Ighalo and Mata were wasteful in front of goal. Martial came on late in the game and scored the winner in only two minutes of coming on from the bench.
Martial is now the leading goalscorer for United this season with 23 goals in all competitions. Teden Mengi also came on to make his debut, making him the eighth academy graduate to make his debut in the first-team. The Red Devils next face Copenhagen in the quarter-final of the Europa League.
