United hosted Tottenham Hotspur at the “Threatres of Dream” and what a game it turned out to be. It was a must win game for both the sides, but United got the better of it due to Cristiano Ronaldo’s masterclass performance.
United opened the books in the 12th minute of the game when a Cristiano Ronaldo right-footed shot went in like a ball of fire miles away from the box. Fred gave a wonderful back-heel assist to Ronaldo who made this banger goal, look so easy and clean. Hugo Lloris really fumbled to keep that out. Harry Kane scored in the 35th minute of the game with a penalty coming off Alex Telles’ hand. Few minutes before that, the VAR denied United a similar opportunity when Ronaldo’s left footed shot touched Romero’s hand. Sancho yet again with another assist in the game.6 G/A in the last 8 games now for Jadon Sancho. Pogba gave a brilliant ball to Sancho which was chipped over the Spurs defenders and Sancho gave a swift through ball to Ronaldo to just tap it in.
2nd half had a really edge to edge battle between the two sides who were eager to grab hold of this crucial three points. The Londoners switched from right to left to set up Reguilon for a cross that the unfortunate Maguire turned into his own net.
Ronaldo shortly answered that with a brilliant header from a corner brilliantly taken by Alex Telles. United fans were surely glad to see Cavani back on the pitch. Bruno Fernandes missed the game due to a cause which is still unknown. Meanwhile, Rashford again got his spot back in the starting XI.
Ronaldo scored his 2nd Manchester United hattrik and the football universe also got the opportunity to see him breaking yet another record of being the highest scorer in this game. 807 goals and counting, and what a way to make this numbers possible! On the other hand, Fred has played a key role in helping United play with less pressure as his numbers are just insane today against Spurs (100% take-on success, 86% pass accuracy, 65 touches, 5 duels won, 3 chances created and 1 assist).
United’s upcoming games are going to be very challenging and dropping points will surely confirm that the Top-Four spot has gone. Today’s game was just like a trailer of a movie depicting how good United were. All of the tactics paid off and moreover, no defensive errors were made except the own goal by Maguire.
