Manchester United have taken the revenge of their defeated in Turkey as the Red Devils romped past Basaksehir in Old Trafford. The Red Devils won by a scoreline of 4-1 with a brace from talisman Bruno Fernandes and a goal each from Rashford and Dan James. Though they should have scored a lot more goals, Manchester United managed the game well with three wins in four games in the Champions League.
With Ole fielding a strong lineup for the mid-week fixture, the Red Devils started on the front foot as it was clear that they wanted to take revenge and attacked from the onset. Manchester United scored in the first 10 minutes itself, with a scorching shot from Fernandes from outside the box as the Portuguese midfielder scored again. Manchester United looked more comfortable after the first goal and created some great chances to score with Rashford scoring a goal, only to be chalked off.
With so many chances coming their way, United scored again with Fernandes alert in the box after a fumble from the Basaksehir goalkeeper. The Red Devils kept on piling the pressure as they wanted to score even more. Towards the end of the half, United got a penalty as Rashford was fouled in the box.
Surprisingly, Rashford took the penalty himself as Bruno Fernandes handed him the ball while having a chance of scoring a hat-trick. The first half ended with a score of 3-0 as United were in a comfortable lead. Due to the lead, the second half saw Basaksehir try to get goals as United took Bruno, Rashford, Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka off. The Turkish club dominated the proceedings but couldn’t capitalize on the chances.
The Red Devils also had their fair share of chances but failed to increase the lead. Basaksehir scored from a free-kick in the 75th minute which De Gea clawed out but from inside the goal. The Turkish club tried even more but also left spaces in their defence allowing Manchester United to counter-attack.
In the dying moments of the game, Dan James capped of Manchester United’s victory with his first Champions League goal. This victory will give United good confidence as they face Southampton in the weekend. The Red Devils only need one more point in their remaining two games to come out successfully of the Champions League group stage.
