According to Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United may make a serious attempt to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic during the January transfer window.
Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s release, the Red Devils will be looking for a new center-forward in the following month. A marquee striker might be secured before a short-term signing.
One player who has been linked with a move is Vlahovic, and it is now being said that United are ready to go serious about signing him at the beginning of the new year.
The Serbian, who might leave the Bianconeri in the next 12 months, has been previously linked with a move to English giants like United, Arsenal, and Chelsea.
After Ronaldo’s abrupt departure, United found itself lacking in the forward department. The squad’s senior forwards right now are Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, but the former has a history of injuries. United cannot afford to rely on Martial’s fitness for the remainder of the season after three separate injuries this season. They must therefore look for another center-forward next month.
Vlahovic was outstanding for Fiorentina in the first part of the previous season, but since moving to Juventus, he hasn’t been able to match those performances. Despite this, he has contributed to 20 goals in just 36 games.
Because of the Bianconeri’s continuous tax problems, Vlahovic may leave this winter, so United must be on the lookout if they want to get him before their Premier League rivals. Juventus will seek to retrieve the full €70 million they initially spent for him. The key question is whether the Red Devils are willing to shell out such a significant sum in the middle of the current campaign.
Vlahovic, who is only 22 years old and has a tonne of potential, seems like a decent signing in our opinion. However, his recurring injury problems should raise doubts regarding the transfer.
