Manchester United agree deal to sign Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Feyenoord full-back Tyrell Malacia has signed a £15 million agreement with Manchester United.

United has made a formal offer to the Rotterdam club, which has been approved. They are also nearing a £56 million deal with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong.

Last week, when Lyon submitted a third bid at £12 million along with a package of add-ons, it appeared that they were in the driving seat. But Feyenoord’s asking price of £15 million has already been nearly met by United, and the 22-year-old left-back now seems destined for Old Trafford.

The new United manager Erik ten Hag recognized Malacia as a priority signing. The Dutch international piqued Newcastle’s interest as well.

And by raising their bid, Lyon appeared to have gotten the jump on both Premier League clubs. But after a slow start to the transfer market, United’s effort to add fresh players is finally picking up speed.

Ten Hag wants competition for Luke Shaw, but United was prioritizing signing De Jong.

He is from the same Rotterdam neighbourhood that gave birth to Wijnaldum, a midfielder for Paris St. Germain who saw great success with both Newcastle and Liverpool. Tyrell Malacia is expected to be a member of Louis van Gaal’s team for the upcoming World Cup.

He made his debut for his country in September in a qualifier against Montenegro and has since earned five caps.
