Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters is a fresh target of both, Manchester United and Arsenal this summer.
The Premier League rivals are already battling for the services of Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez after making competing proposals for the Argentina international.
The Athletic claims that both teams are also interested in former Tottenham teenager Walker-Peters and have him on their list of targets in the event that they decide to bolster their right-back positions.
The 25-year-old made his England debut during an excellent 2021–22 season before joining Southampton on a permanent basis after excelling on loan. A £30 million buy-back option is rumored to have been inserted by Tottenham in the defender’s transfer agreement.
Southampton is eager to sign another full-back to compete with Walker-Peters and fill in for Tino Livramento, who will likely miss the remainder of 2022 due to a knee injury.
The Saints are examining a number of players, including United prospect Brandon Williams, Feyenoord’s Marcus Pedersen, and Manchester City’s Issa Kabore.
In the event that Walker-Peters is sold, the new addition will strengthen Ralph Hasenhuttl’s existing choices. However, Manchester United is also going through the same turmoil.
Erik ten Hag is also on the lookout to sign a new right-back this summer as he doesn’t feel impressed by Aaron Wan Bissaka’s progress.
Brandon Williams is also expected to depart on loan which leaves only Diogo Dalot as the lone option in the squad. It would be safe to say that the pacy defender would be an exciting addition to the squad.
It will be interesting to see how the entire transfer rumour unfolds as these are just the initial days.
