Manchester United may face competition from Real Madrid in the race to sign Portuguese defender Goncalo Inacio, as reported by O Jogo.
The Red Devils have shown a long-standing interest in the centre-back and were previously linked with him in last summer’s transfer window.
Inacio recently extended his contract at Sporting Lisbon, which raised his release clause to €60 million, but it’s expected that he will eventually leave the club.
Despite interest from the Red Devils and Madrid, Sporting Lisbon are in no hurry to part with the talented centre-back.
They are firm in their stance and intend to hold out for the full buy-out clause amount, rejecting any additional conditions or add-ons to the deal.

Sporting have made it clear that they are not interested in a transfer proposal similar to what Tottenham Hotspur arranged for Porro last winter.
Man United have been frequently linked with the Portuguese star over the past year, but they have not yet submitted a formal offer to acquire him from Sporting Lisbon.
While there may be some interest, the club has other defensive targets in mind, including Antonio Silva, Jean-Clair Todibo, and Edmond Tapsoba, who are currently higher on their priority list.
The ongoing speculation about Inacio’s potential move is likely being driven by agents, particularly since he shares the same agency as Bruno Fernandes, who plays for United.

However, the English giants may make a transfer move in January, given their current financial constraints and the complexities of Financial Fair Play.
They are more likely to consider big signings in the summer instead of the upcoming transfer window.
