Manchester United are unwilling to sign Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United has opted not to pursue the services of Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus.

The German star became an unexpected target for the Red Devils, and it was rumoured that manager Erik ten Hag and his agent, Dirk Hebel, had a private meeting. But the Red Devils have decided not to pursue their interest in the 33-year-old. Reus has had a remarkable career in Germany’s top division. In 368 games across all competitions for Dortmund, he has 156 goals and 117 assists.

Despite the impressive numbers, the attacker has a long history of injuries. At Dortmund, he sustained two serious injuries in addition to other issues.

He has missed three games due to different ankle injuries just this season. Reus would be a terrific addition because of his versatility in the attack, but his history of injuries is troubling. Therefore, it would be a risk to tie him to a long-term contract. At Dortmund, where his contract expires at the end of the season, he is already making €230,000 a week.

If he were to sign on as a free agent, he might ask for a comparable package and a sizable signing-on bonus. It would be a dangerous investment for a player who is almost 34.

Many Bundesliga talents, notably Kai Havertz and Jadon Sancho, have had trouble adjusting to life in the Premier League. At his age, Reus wouldn’t have time to adjust to the intensity of the league.
