Manchester United faces competition to sign young South American star, Endrick this summer.
The Red Devils have shown interest in signing the soon turning to be a 16-year-old. But the striker has signed a new contract with Palmeiras that has a £34 million release clause.
According to The Sun, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the striker after conducting extensive scouting over the past few months, and both Manchester United and Chelsea find the price to be attractive.
The left-footed forward has 165 goals in 169 games, a fantastic youth-level goalscoring record that has caught the attention of scouts. They will also be fully aware that delaying taking action on their reports could result in a significant increase in the transfer fees.
Endrick’s release clause will increase to £43 million in 2019 and £50 million in 2024, so bids may come in sooner rather than later. That would be in defiance of Brazilian law, which forbids domestic players from Brazil from leaving the country before they turn 18.
Therefore, any agreement would constitute a pre-contract arrangement, similar to the one Real Madrid and Vinicius Junior reached regarding his £34 million transfer. By coincidence, Endrick and Vinicius have the same agency, thus a similar arrangement might be forthcoming.
The Brazilian would be a welcome addition to United as Erik ten Hag looks to build for the future. If the Red Devils do make a move, they would be acquiring the best young star in South America.
United hasn’t yet really tapped into this market, despite having some success there with Rafael and Fabio da Silva back in 2008.
