According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag desires a more ruthless clear-out of the team during the summer transfer window.
Last summer, the Red Devils spent over £213 million on five permanent additions, but they only made back £11.5 million through player sales.
This time around, there will be a greater focus on outgoings, and Ten Hag wants the club to be “ruthless” by dumping a number of flop players. Alex Telles, Anthony Martial, Brandon Williams, and Harry Maguire will all be up for sale when the transfer window reopens.
If Eric Bailly does not reach the required number of appearances to make Marseille obligated to purchase him after his loan period, he may also be available on the transfer market.
Goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who gave an ugly interview at the beginning of the season, is also expected to leave United. Ten Hag, who has made just five starts since the World Cup break, is reportedly growing irritated with Jadon Sancho.
Due to a shortage of money from player sales, United are currently having financial fair play issues. As a result, they must sell players this summer. In our opinion, they could easily recoup more than £100 million by offloading their fading stars.
Henderson is likely the most valued of the six players described above, but following his conversation with United last summer, he might not have a future with the club.
Sancho should also perform better in order to win Ten Hag’s trust. He was acquired by United for a whopping £75 million in July 2021, but in 64 games across all competitions, he has only scored 10 goals and provided four assists.
He was a revelation while he was in Germany. In just 137 games for Dortmund in all competitions, he scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists.
