Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hits back at criticism for tactics

Ole has hit back at all the naysayers who felt that Manchester united were sitting too deep in their own half and defending too much. Ole feels that his team was attacking a bit too much.

Many of the ex-players and legends criticised his defensive tactics but that opinion was not shared by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher also lashed out at Manchester United by saying that they didn’t show any authority.

One may call the Manchester United manager Ole’s words as good game management and may also allege that his team did have some pretty great chances in the second half of the goalless draw which were denied due to some beautiful saves by Allison.

However Manchester United has failed to score against the big six in a long time. Despite Manchester United’s dismal record against the top 6 they sit at the top of the table and have an impressive unbeaten run.
We attacked every time we got the ball, maybe too much,” Solskjaer said. “We kept giving it away, that was the challenge. We went forward too quickly.”

Many pundits and journalists claimed that it was a game of two halves with the first one being dominated mostly by Liverpool and the second half brought forth the best chances for Manchester United.

Many of the top six clubs have played out unimpressive draws or have chosen to sit out games and play it safe so that they do not exert their star players too much as going toe to toe with the best can always be a challenge. His challenge is very real this season due to the packed schedule and limited rest available for the teams. There wasn’t even a proper pre-season and the after-effects can be seen on many teams.
