Manchester United Boss Speaks Out On Draw With Southampton

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that the club is facing a dip in results and not a dip in form after the 1-1 draw against Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday.

The Red Devils suffered another poor result in the Premier League on Matchday 4 after they drew 1-1 against south coast club Southampton. Jannik Vestergaard’s towering second-half header canceled out a fabulous 10th-minute opener from Daniel James for the visitors and the spoils were shared.

It was the second game in a row that United threw away their lead away from home as they were unable to bounce back from the 2-1 loss against Crystal Palace last weekend. Apart from the 4-0 thrashing of fierce rivals Chelsea on the opening day of the campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team has not really been able to get better overall.

But the 46-year-old Norwegian has explained that the game against Southampton was only a dip in the results as the club is moving in the right direction.

While speaking to reporters after the game at St Mary’s, Solskjaer said that United have been a bit unfortunate over the past few weeks and not been able to convert and take their chances, “The strange thing about it is the three games we haven’t won were better than the Chelsea one, Chelsea pressed us and pushed us back. We counter-attacked. In the other three, we have been dominating, creating chances but haven’t been clinical enough to win the games. We’ve missed some penalties, we’ve missed some chances. It’s not a dip in form, it’s a dip in results.”
