Manchester United have reportedly called off their move for Juventus midfielder Adrian Rabiot due to his wage demands which were deemed too high by the Old Trafford fold.
United had struck an agreement on a £15 million fee rising to £20 million with Juventus for landing Rabiot’s signature but the player’s mother proved to be a stumbling block in discussions.
Eric ten Hag’s side had been hard at work to finalize a deal to sign Rabiot with the former Paris Saint-Germain man emerging as United’s alternative to long-standing target Frenkie de Jong who had snubbed the opportunity to sign for the Red Devils.
According to a report from Manchester Evening News, it is claimed that United’s latest setback on the transfer front, to sign Rabiot this summer, will up the pressure on an embattled Ten Hag to reinforce his side’s midfield ranks before the September 1 deadline.
Ten Hag had been keen on moving in for the Barcelona maestro De Jong with the new United head coach eyeing up the Dutch midfielder as the answer to United’s problems in the centre of the park.
