Manchester United are reportedly closing in on securing the signature of Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha in a big-money deal that could rise up to around £42 million.
United are in dire need of reinforcements to bolster their attacking lineup after successive defeats in their opening two games of the new Premier League season which has upped the pressure on the new head coach Eric ten Hag.
With uncertainty over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford beyond this summer’s window failing to subside, Ten Hag has identified Atletico Madrid frontman Matheus Cunha as a viable target to add to his options in front of the goal.
According to a report from talkSPORT, the 23-year-old Brazil international, who has been one of the standout players for Diego Simeone’s Atletico, is on the verge of completing his move to the Red Devils with Ten Hag in line to snap up the prized signing.
Cunha is said to be keen on the idea of joinng United to increase his first-team opportunities as he eyes up a spot in Tite’s Brazil squad for the World Cup later this year.
