Manchester United are reportedly closing in on signing midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid in an initial deal worth £50.7 million with a further £8.5 million in add-ons.
According to a report from Sky Sports, the Brazil international Casemiro, who emerged as United’s priority target after repeated setbacks in pursuit of Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, could soon make the move to Old Trafford to become Eric ten Hag’s latest recruit of the summer.
The move to the Premier League for the 30-year-old Real Madrid star, however, is unlikely to be completed in time for United’s forthcoming league outing at home to rivals Liverpool on Monday night with Casemiro requiring a visa.
Casemiro is understood to be keen on the idea of joining the Red Devils this summer with the Brazilian looking for a fresh challenge in his career despite the host of trophies he has won in recent years playing for Real Madrid.
Eric ten Hag, who has endured a tough start to life in the Premier League with Manchester United, will be delighted to snap up Casemiro to bolster his midfield ranks following his efforts to bring in De Jong from Barcelona going in vain.
