Manchester United have officially announced (via Twitter handle) that they have come to terms with Turkish club Fenerbahce for the transfer of midfielder Fred.
The speculation surrounding the future of the Brazilian international had been prominent in recent weeks. It was evident early in the transfer window that Fred would be departing from Old Trafford this season.
Fred was absent from the Red Devils’ preseason tour in the United States and also did not participate in the friendly matches against Lens and Athletic Bilbao last weekend.
Initially, Galatasaray appeared to have an advantageous position in securing the signing of the South American player. However, Fenerbahce have now become the frontrunner in this race.
