Manchester United consider signing Benjamin Sesko as a long-term striker option

As reported by ESPN, Manchester United are considering signing Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko, as they see him as a long-term attacking option.

For now, the 19-year-old Slovenian star has decided to sign with RB Leipzig this summer. However, if a good offer comes through, the Bundesliga team will be willing to let the striker go.

The striker joined the Austrian team’s starting XI last season after progressing through the ranks and spending some time on loan. For Matthias Jaissle’s squad, he has been even more impressive this term. He has made 25 appearances for them in all competitions, scoring seven goals and assisting three more.

Meanwhile, United have a big void to fill after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Anthony Martial is Erik ten Hag’s sole natural striker at that position.

This month, the Red Devils added Wout Weghorst to their lineup to strengthen the squad. Due to the former AS Monaco star’s ongoing injury problems, the 30-year-old has already played a crucial role for the Dutch boss.

The majority of the goal-scoring responsibilities this season have been carried by Marcus Rashford. None of our other forwards, including Martial, have regularly contributed with goals.

United obviously needs to get a new striker in the upcoming months. Sesko has yet to prove himself as a reliable goal scorer, but he has immense potential. It remains to be seen whether the club prefers to monitor the young striker before making an attractive offer.
