Manchester United are said to be considering the possibility of pursuing Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs, who has also been a target for Tottenham Hotspur.
According to 90min, the club has decided to sell Harry Maguire to West Ham United for £30 million and is now looking to accelerate the process of acquiring a new central defender to replace the 30-year-old defender.
Various players have been associated with a move to Old Trafford recently, including Jean-Clair Todibo and Benjamin Pavard, who were noted as top-priority targets.
However, Schuurs have now emerged as a potential alternative option for Man United. After joining Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino last summer, the 23-year-old had an exceptional debut season in Serie A.
Evidently, his impressive performances for Torino have not gone unnoticed, as he has garnered significant interest recently, with Man United and Tottenham Hotspur being among the clubs expressing interest.

The Red Devils have compiled a list of potential defenders to replace Maguire, with Jean-Clair Todibo being their top choice. Nonetheless, in addition to Todibo, the list also includes Schuurs and Jarrad Branthwaite as players United are considering.
The report additionally asserts that United are expressing interest in Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen; however, he is seen as a costly option.
This leads to the question of whether United will pursue signing Todibo this summer or shift their attention to alternative choices like Schuurs to enhance their defensive lineup.
Concurrently, there are indications that Tottenham are eager to secure a new central defender this season, with Tapsoba being on their wishlist.

Yet, Schuurs is also being considered by Ange Postecoglou’s team. This implies that United will face strong competition from Spurs if they intend to secure a deal for the former Ajax player.
Schuurs, who joined Torino last summer, still has over three years left on his existing contract. Consequently, Torino holds a favourable position to demand a substantial fee if they opt to sell, expecting around £34 million.
Schuurs is a player of considerable talent and promising potential, making him a valuable acquisition for either Man United or Tottenham should either club successfully secure his signing during this transfer period.

Given that the Dutchman has a history of working under Erik Ten Hag during their time at Ajax, the influence of the United manager could prove pivotal in convincing the defender to choose Old Trafford over Tottenham if the two teams find themselves competing for his signature.
