According to the Athletic, Manchester United have made contact with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot’s representatives as they seek to strengthen their midfield this summer.
The Red Devils had shown interest in the French international last year but were unable to finalize a transfer.
Despite their initial pursuit of Mason Mount from Chelsea and subsequent focus on Moises Caicedo of Brighton, United has now reportedly entered into talks with Rabiot’s representatives once again.
The 28-year-old midfielder is seen as a potential addition to Erik ten Hag’s midfield as United continue their efforts to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
United have reportedly reached out to Rabiot’s agency to explore the possibility of resuming negotiations for a potential transfer. The French midfielder has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League.
Initially, United had targeted Chelsea’s Mason Mount as their top midfield option, but the Blues are demanding a fee of around £65m for the 24-year-old, and United’s £55m proposal was quickly rejected. United is willing to re-engage in negotiations if Chelsea lowers their asking price.
Additionally, United has also contacted Brighton’s Moises Caicedo‘s representatives to assess the feasibility of a deal, as Chelsea has apparently withdrawn from the race for the Ecuadorian midfielder. However, Brighton’s valuation of Caicedo at around £80m could pose a hurdle for any potential transfer.
Last season, United faced difficulties in midfield due to injuries to Christian Eriksen and suspensions for Casemiro, which affected their form and title challenge in the Premier League.
