Manchester United could dream of signing French striker Marcus Thuram following the comments of Borussia Monchengladbach’s sporting director Roland Virkus.
Thuram has put together a strong season with the Bundesliga team, scoring 14 goals and dishing out four assists in just 22 games across all competitions.
Virkus has now confirmed that the 25-year-old will leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in June, with United being one of his biggest admirers.
As reported by The Sun, He said:
“We have decided to let go of Marcus Thuram. We have to accept it, there are even bigger clubs where Marcus could go. The fact that the player will leave us without making any money is not a positive situation and I can’t even sweeten the pill that much.”
Anthony Martial has had a difficult season at Old Trafford due to his recent injuries. The Frenchman has played in 14 games and contributed to eight goals, but his fitness has been an issue.
The Red Devils have reportedly decided to sell the 27-year-old this summer after he sustained five different injuries during the current season. We believe that Thuram would be a better choice than Martial. He is a better dribbler in the final third despite being two years younger than his countryman.
Aside from having a stronger body than Martial, the former Guingamp graduate also has a flair for winning ground and aerial battles.
Thuram would be a fantastic transfer signing this summer. The free agent is capable of functioning from the left side of the attack in addition to playing up front.
Martial’s departure this summer would allow United to easily recoup his salary and signing bonus.
