According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United players are split on whether Erik ten Hag should be their next manager.
The Red Devils have decided to go with the Ajax manager over Mauricio Pochettino. However, the team members are divided on the decision about who is the best manager for the club.
Manchester United took advantage of the recent international break to accelerate their managerial search, with John Murtough and Darren Fletcher conducting interviews with their top targets.
And, despite the club’s admiration for other world-class managers, Ten Hag has emerged as a leading candidate for this job. But not everyone wants the club to sign Ten Hag with some players are looking to work under Mauricio Pochettino.
Fans are actually excited about the possibility of the Ajax manager joining them, believing that his coaching may improve the quality of play following a poor season under both Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Others consider Ten Hag’s appointment to be ‘underwhelming.’
Players were expected to support the board in appointing Pochettino just months before the end of the season, but the club management is now ‘leaning towards’ Ten Hag.
He could become only the second Dutch origin coach to lead Manchester United after Louis Van Gaal. Ajax is thought to have a positive connection with United and is willing to let their boss leave a year early.
The attitude within the United squad has gone down following Saturday’s dull 1-1 draw with Leicester, in which they were lucky to earn a point.
After West Ham’s 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday, they are now sixth in the league. Our hopes of getting a top-four finish look very slim right now.
