As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United is nearing the end of its internal investigation into the conduct of Mason Greenwood, and a decision regarding the forward’s future is expected within the next few weeks.
Greenwood, who has not played for the club since January 2022, faced allegations on social media concerning his personal life, leading to his suspension by Man United.
In October last year, the English star was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
However, these charges against the player were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February. Subsequently, Man United initiated its own internal investigation to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the allegations against their academy graduate.
Greenwood has remained suspended throughout the investigation, and the outcome of the internal inquiry will determine the next course of action for United.

While no specific timeline has been provided for the inquiry, its conclusion was unlikely to align with the season’s final stages.
However, it is possible that the investigation could coincide with ongoing discussions regarding a potential takeover of the club, as the Glazer family considers various bids.
Although United’s investigation into Greenwood is still ongoing, progress has been made, and a resolution is drawing nearer.
The final decision regarding any disciplinary measures will rest with the Glazers, in consultation with the club’s chief executive Richard Arnold.
