Manchester United End Premier League Win Drought With Win Over Norwich

The Red Devils won a Premier League game away from home for the first time since February and would have beaten their opponents Norwich by more if not for two Tim Krul penalty saves.

United’s two first-half goals came moments after outstanding Krul stops to keep Norwich from suffering a further swollen scoreline.

Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay slammed home the opener seconds after a stunning reaction stop from the Krul to deny Anthony Martial from close range which was also a landmark 2000th goal for United in the Premier League.

The video assistant referee (VAR) then controversially awarded the away side a penalty for a Ben Godfrey foul on Daniel James but with Krul produced a fine save to deny Marcus Rashford’s from the spot.

However, the young English forward got his name on the scoresheet with United’s next attack as he was left in acres of space by the Norwich defense and Rashford doubled the lead.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side was then awarded a second penalty by VAR for a Todd Cantwell handball. And this time it was French attacker Anthony Martial who stepped forward to take the penalty and despite going the other way Krul guessed correctly once again.

Norwich are currently fighting relegation and they had a couple of chances of their own but United wrapped the game up when Martial clipped the ball over Krul after a good passing link up move with Rashford.

The Canaries scored a late consolation through substitute Onel Hernandez, who took the ball off McTominay before running at United’s defense and shooting past David de Gea to earn some joy for the home crowd.

The red half of Manchester moved into seventh place in the Premier League table with the win and the United faithful would be hoping that this good form continues.
