According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United has joined Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion star midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.
The Argentine international has had a fantastic year for both club and country, and Romano has now disclosed that he is expected to leave this summer before the end of the current season.
The player’s camp has reportedly been contacted by United, Chelsea, and Liverpool, and it is believed that Brighton will decide on his price tag soon. This year, Mac Allister has excelled for Brighton. In all competitions, he has scored 10 goals, five of which have come from open play.
The Argentine has also contributed two assists and played outstanding defensively. He has won 5.7 duels and an outstanding 2.2 tackles per league game.
The 24-year-old would be a great addition to the Red Devils as he can operate in a central, defensive, or attacking midfield position. He has been consistent with his displays despite frequently switching positions. In the current league season, Mac Allister has completed 88 per cent of his passes.
He was rated at €42 million immediately after the World Cup, but given how far he has come, the Seagulls may well want more than €70 million.
Given that he has already adapted to the league and has the potential to leave an immediate impression next season, we think he should be a no-brainer signing for United.
