Manchester United are expected to sign a new midfielder when the new summer transfer window opens in the upcoming months.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, Chelsea’s Mason Mount, and Wolves’ Ruben Neves have all been linked with a move to United.
However, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Manu Kone is presently the most recent name on their radar, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in a move.
The 21-year-old has made 54 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and dishing out two assists since 2021.
While Kone still has two and a half years left on his contract at Borussia Park, he may be open to leaving because he’s always wanted to play for a more powerful team.
It is understandable why Erik ten Hag is interested in the French U21 international, who has averaged more tackles (2.6) and dribbles (1.9) per game than any United player.
Five of United’s nine options may not play next season, despite the fact that the manager appears to have an excess of midfielders in his squad.
Donny van de Beek doesn’t seem to have much of a future after the summer after being injured for the majority of the season. Meanwhile, Marcel Sabitzer, who is only on loan, will return to Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
Kobbie Mainoo has only played for the senior team three times, and Zidane Iqbal has only played for the senior team once. While Kone would be a regular in the first-team squad, neither player will play every week starting next year.
