Manchester United are expected to pursue West Ham United’s midfield maestro Declan Rice next summer with the player looking for a switch to a top-four side in the Premier League.
Rice had been heavily linked with a move away from West Ham in this summer’s transfer window but Chelsea and Manchester United pulled the plug on any potential deal due to concerns on the pricing front.
United’s backing to improve upon their options in the centre of the park by signing a new defensive midfielder could be materialised next summer with Ole Gunnar Solskajer alerted to Rice’s situation, according to reports from Manchester Evening News.
Chelsea were credited as the favourites to land Rice this summer from the West Ham camp but with the deadline day arrival of Saul Niguez at Stamford Bridge, Thomas Tuchel’s outfit are not reckoned to eye up their longstanding target anytime soon.
This could give Manchester United a much-needed opportunity to overtake their domestic rivals in the race to sign the West Ham United first-team regular who is sure to fetch a high price for his coveted signature.
