Manchester United eye Harry Kane as Cristiano Ronaldo replacement

As reported by Fichajes, Manchester United are keeping an eye on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as the Red Devils want to sign a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese star’s exit was expected after his recent bombshell interview with Piers Morgan. The 37-year-old criticized the glazers for their unacceptable attitude.

United have already started their search for a new striker and they have earmarked Kane as the ideal candidate. The 29-year-old’s future with Spurs was uncertain before Antonio Conte joined the club.

The English star was close to joining Manchester City in the summer of 2021, however, the move failed to materialize due to his asking price. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has slapped a huge price tag on the player’s head and it can be matched only by an elite team.

Currently, United have the strength to buy the player. But, it’s unlikely that Spurs will sell their star asset to a direct rival in the middle of the season. Also, Kane is happy to work under Conte and their relationship has started to blossom both on and off the field.

Erik ten Hag will prefer to sign a player who is much cheaper and readily available to the club. PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo seems like an attainable target and the Red Devils may go all out for his services this January.
