Manchester United eye up a move for Barcelona contract rebel Ronald Araujo

Manchester United are understood to be eyeing up a move for Barcelona contract rebel Ronald Araujo who has less than 18 months left on his current terms at Camp Nou.

According to reports from the Spanish news outlet Marca ( via The Daily Express), it is claimed that Araujo has emerged on the radar at Old Trafford with United on the hunt for defensive reinforcements in the summer.

The 22-year-old Uruguayan has been holding out for a wage hike much to the disappointment of the FC Barcelona board who are resigned to losing out on the central defender for a cut-price deal at the end of the season.

Liverpool and Manchester City have been credited with a strong interest in the La Liga talent and joining their arch rivals are Manchester United with the Red Devils looking to add options to their underwhelming defensive roster.

Harry Maguire has often struggled for consistency in his displays at the back while both Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are tipped to head out the exit door despite the former staying put beyond the recent January transfer window.
