Manchester United are interested in signing Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos as Dean Henderson appears likely to leave this summer
Henderson has been on the bench for United in their first two Premier League games of the season but is expected to depart before the transfer deadline.
Nottingham Forest have shown interest in re-signing him, and Crystal Palace have recently entered the race as well. There’s a possibility that Henderson could leave on loan with an option to buy.
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that United are plotting a move for Vlachodimos, who was initially linked with the club during the 2022-23 season.
The goalkeeper has consistently been in the starting lineup for Benfica for the past five seasons. However, Benfica might be considering selling him.

This decision comes following their recent signing of a promising young goalkeeper, Anatoliy Trubin, who is 22 years old and could potentially become their first-choice keeper if Vlachodimos departs.
At 29 years old, the Greek star could serve as a capable backup to Andre Onana, especially due to his impressive passing skills. In the previous season, he successfully completed 80 per cent of his passes.

Vlachodimos has also demonstrated his excellent reflexes as a goalkeeper. In the previous season, he played a crucial role in Benfica’s journey to the Champions League quarter-finals.
While Transfermarkt values him at €16 million, it wouldn’t be surprising if Benfica demands a higher fee for him, especially since he recently signed a new contract in March.
In our view, Man United are likely to propose a one-season loan offer for the 33-capped international, with an option to purchase him in the next summer transfer window.
