According to Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United are interested to take winger Xavi Simons on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for the upcoming season.
Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho netted the winning goals as the Red Devils beat Manchester City to snag the FA Cup, topping off a great 2023–24 season.
Now, United wants to beef up their team for the next season to keep their win streak. According to Mundo Deportivo, they’re eager to borrow Simons for a year from PSG, aiming to make their squad even stronger.
While playing at RB Leipzig on loan, the 21-year-old player from the Netherlands had an amazing season in 2023–24. He played in 43 games and scored 10 times while also making 15 assists.
Simons impressed playing on both wings and even contributed from an attacking midfield position under manager Marco Rose. Simons seems intent on going somewhere else even in spite of United’s interest.

The Dutchman is eager to rejoin the Catalan giants after attending Barcelona’s La Masia academy during his earlier years. According to reports, Simons is holding out for a possible loan return to Barcelona in an effort to rejoin the team that helped shape his career as a rookie.
Nevertheless, it may be difficult for Barcelona to get Simons back due to their financial limitations and continuous problems with La Liga’s Financial Fair Play rules. Simons’ priority is still returning home to Camp Nou but he may look at other European teams if Barcelona is unable to sign him.
Given Simons apparent desire to return to Barcelona, the club administration should refrain from holding off on making a decision for weeks. When it comes to transfer options, Manchester United has more choices.
Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao and Johan Bakayoko of PSV are two up-and-coming players who might suit United as well.
Due to their impressive potential both players could be a great asset to the team. Manchester United would be well served by acquiring Xavi Simons who provides wings with versatility and inventiveness.
