Manchester United face tough test from Bayern Munich in Kolo Muani transfer

Manchester United face a tough challenge from Bayern Munich in the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani this summer.

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that although the German powerhouses have had talks with Kolo Muani’s agents amid concerns that the Red Devils are ‘pressing the most’ to sign the talented French centre-forward.

The 24-year-old may be available for less than €100 million but Frankfurt won’t allow him to leave for cheap. United and Bayern may engage in a bidding battle for the services of a top striker this summer.

Kolo Muani has had an outstanding season for the Bundesliga side since his move from Nantes in 2017. The French star has scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists in over 40 games for Frankfurt.

The Frenchman enjoys slipping past defences and outracing opponents with his short burst of pace. Erik ten Hag used similar tactics with Marcus Rashford and the result is there to see. The manager expects his striker to make moves that could split the defenders open and free up other players to launch an attacking move.

Kolo Muani is the ideal candidate to fulfil his need for the team to sign a Pacy striker who can press from the front. He is just beginning his prime and might provide United with a long-term centre-forward solution.

United must act soon if Ten Hag wants Kolo Muani to play at Old Trafford next season. Bayern has already opened negotiations in an effort to sign a striker.

The Red Devils’ first priority is to sign a proven centre-forward and they need to make the first move as soon as possible. However, the transfer price might be a major stumbling block behind the deal.

Napoli star Victor Osimhen and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane are two other players that United are considering signing this summer.
