The Emir of Qatar is still being linked with Manchester United, and the club’s supporters have responded positively to a cryptic tweet from a Qatari journalist amid takeover claims.
According to reports from earlier this week, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, was reportedly planning to offer more than £4 billion to United before Friday’s deadline.
The club is reportedly valued at no more than £4.5 billion by those overseeing the acquisition for the nation’s monarch.
The Glazers’ financial advisor, The Raine Group, and the Reds’ present owners have set a £6 billion asking price. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS is also interested in purchasing United.
Majed Al Khelaifi, the chief editor of the Doha Arabic, tweeted a picture of the United badge on Thursday with the message, “Man United is Qatari.”
As per the Manchester Evening News, United supporters responded quickly to Al Khelaifi’s tweet, and while some of them disagreed with the news, many others were pleased to see it.
It’s no secret that the fans wanted to get rid of the Glazers, and the news of having new owners will be a welcome one for each one of them.
Here are some of the tweets of the fans responding to the latest Qatari tweet:
