Manchester United FC demand £12 million for Marcos Rojo’s sale

Manchester United FC are demanding a fee of £12 million for out-of-favour centre back Marcos Rojo.

The Argentine defender is currently on loan at Estudiantes in his homeland. The player is widely expected to be sold in the summer as he has not been able to impress Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

Red Devils chief Ed Woodward is persistent on sticking to the £12 million price-tag for Rojo’s sale. However, it is believed that Estudiantes may be unable to match the amount being asked by Manchester United FC. The Argentine outfit are not keen on spending a seemingly high amount of money for them on signing Rojo, who is about to turn 30.

Rojo has not been able to make a considerable impact since joining Estudiantes earlier this year on loan. Injury troubles sidelined the centre-back in his initial months at the club. Moreover, the suspension of football due to the pandemic crisis prevented Rojo from making his mark on the Estudiantes side.

However, despite Rojo’s struggles, Estudiantes are keen on signing the 29-year old on a permanent basis. The player has  considerable experience of playing at the highest level of football and would be a valuable addition to the Argentine side.

There is a great deal of certainty that Rojo does not fit into Solskjaer’s plans at Manchester United FC. The player has not been able to break into the Red Devils starting lineup on numerous occasions. Moreover, the signing of Harry Maguire last summer by Solskjaer proves that Rojo no longer has a future at Old Trafford.

Rojo is himself eager on extending his stay at Estudiantes permanently. The central defender wants to have as much playing opportunities on the pitch as possible. With his future in the Red Devils shirt looking bleak, Estudiantes seems to a good option for the 29-year old.

Ed Woodward is keen on selling Rojo so that the funds obtained from his sale can be used by Solskjaer in the summer transfer window. Manchester United FC still have a lot of business to do in terms of acquiring new players in the market. Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly has emerged as the primary target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of next season.
