Manchester United FC will have to offer more money to Championship side Birmingham City if they wish to sign highly-rated teenager Jude Bellingham.
The Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is very determined to sign Bellingham, who has impressed for his current side in the Championship of late. Solskjaer is so keen on signing the 16-year old that he has promised the player that he will be a part of the first-team squad at Manchester United FC instead of being put in the under-18’s or in the under-23’s.
Birmingham City have admitted in private that they are looking towards cashing in on their player and will accept reasonable bids for him in the upcoming transfer window. However, the Championship side have also stated that they desire of a larger chunk of the transfer fee being paid upfront by the clubs eyeing a move for Bellingham. Birmingham wants to ease their financial troubles, and this is the reason why they are willing to let go of their highly-rated prospect.
As reported recently, the Red Devils have made their initial offer in the form of future incentives based on the performance of the player. Moreover, a series of incentives included in Manchester United FC’s opening offer is linked to the success the Premier League side seeks to achieve in their domestic league as well as the UEFA Champions League.
But with a number of top European clubs such as Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal also interested in securing the transfer of Bellingham, Solskjaer is aware that his club would have to submit an improved offer in order to tempt the player away from his current side.
The Red Devils had made an enquiry for the 16-year old earlier this year in January. However, it was soon turned down by Birmingham back then. Manchester United FC will now look to offer more money immediately to the Championship side and wrap up the deal for Bellingham, who has made 35 appearances for his current side this season in the Championship. The player has even had a tour of the Red Devil’s training ground Carrington.
