Manchester United FC have been rejuvenated and are on a 12 match unbeaten streak thanks to the arrival of Bruno Fernandes. The midfielder has given the club the much needed attacking threat from midfield. Now, with Pogba fit and playing well, it seems Manchester United have put their midfield woes behind them.
United have a lot of depth in the midfield department, more importantly, all are in good knick. Along with Bruno, Fred and Matic have been great as well, and look solid at the base of midfield. Mctominay looks sharp and fitter than ever and always has the hunger, which has been rewarded with a new contract.
Pogba has come back after a huge time on the sidelines and seems to be rejuvenated with having Bruno by his side. The French midfielder has shown glimpses of his best in United’s last two matches against Tottenham and Sheffield. Against Tottenham, he came on late and rescued the United side by winning a penalty, and played superbly against the Blades.
With games coming up thick and fast any side needs to have the necessary squad depth. Manchester United won’t be worried about the midfield anytime soon, as all the midfielders look fit and sharp. It is now a headache for manager Solksjaer to choose his best midfield combination.
The depth in midfield also ensures that Solkjaer can chop and change things without much concern. The FA cup fixtures will be played along with the Premier League, meaning United might play up to three matches a week. United must use their squad depth and involve players like Mata, Lingard and Perreira in relatively easier fixtures.
Not to mention, the likes of Angel Gomes, James Garner, and Dylan Levitt. All the three have been given starts by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and look set to be United’s future. Gomes’s contract is running down this season but United are confident he will sign an extension.
As United move towards the business end of the season, the form and fitness of players remain vital. The reemergence of Pogba will surely add more creativity and control to the midfield along with Fred, Mctominay or Matic. Bruno will look to be a threat from the attacking midfield position, a spot he has made his own.
Manchester United look better than they have ever been for the past couple of years. United seem well on course to win the Europa League and might as well win the FA cup. With a top-4 position still up for grabs, United look to put their midfield sorrows behind.
