In a surprising revelation, it is reported that Manchester United FC are on the verge of making a move for Chelsea FC attacker Willian and have opened negotiations with the representatives of the Brazilian player.
Willian’s current deal with the West-London based Premier League side expires at the end of June, and the player’s demand for a three-year contract is reportedly not being fulfilled by Chelsea FC.
This has led to the player not being keen on extending his stay at Stamford Bridge any further beyond 30th June, as Willian is taking a cautious approach in case he suffers any injuries while playing the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign, which would have an adverse effect on any future move by the winger following his departure from Chelsea FC.
Kia Joorabchian, the agent of Willian, has been approached by the Red Devils who have enquired about the availability of the 31-year old and the possibility of a free transfer.
The Red Devils have been revealed to be on the hunt for a right-winger this summer with Manchester United FC manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having declared interest in signing Jadon Sancho and Federico Bernardeschi among other options.
However, signing Willian, and that too on a free transfer would be a massive coup for Solskjaer and the Manchester United FC squad, as the Brazilian attacker is a very skillful player with a great eye for goal.
Moreover, the 31-year old Willian has played nearly seven years in the Premier League and notched up more than 200 Premier League appearances for the Blues, which shows his experience of playing at the topmost level.
A number of sides other than the Red Devils are also interested in signing Willian with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have reached out to Willian’s representatives.
However, both the European giants have been put off by the three-year contract being asked by the player. Real Madrid is sceptical about offering a three-year stay to the Premier League winning attacker, with the Spanish side wanting to acquire Willian as a backup option for the next two seasons.
Willian had earlier expressed his dissatisfaction at the halting of contract negotiations with the Chelsea FC management.
The player had publically spoken about his desire of staying at Stamford Bridge for another three years, but the Blues insisted on rewarding their long-term serving player with a two-year extension only.
