AS Roma star forward Nicolo Zaniolo has insisted that he is “very happy” at the Italian capital amid links with a move to join Premier League giants Manchester United in the near future.
The 20-year-old Zaniolo signed a long-term contract with Roma which will keep him at the club until June 2024, but it has not stopped speculation regarding his future in Italy.
At such a tender age Zaniolo is already an Italy international and is deemed to be the future of the county to lead the line for the Azzurri and he has already attracted interest from several top suitors in the European continent including Manchester United.
The Red Devils are running short on attacking options in the final third as they offloaded big-name duo of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window to Serie A club Inter Milan. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been linked with signing a striker in the upcoming January transfer window and was eyeing up a potential move for Zaniolo, who has already scored five goals for AS Roma this term.
Zaniolo joined Roma only last season but having signed a new deal the center-forward wants to repay the confidence shown in him by Serie A side Roma. While speaking to reporters in Italy, the young attacker expressed his delight and ambition for Roma, “The minimum objective this season is to improve day by day. We want to win every game. The objective is qualifying for the Champions League, I’m very happy, Roma have given me so much confidence, now I’ll repay it on the pitch. I’m proud to represent these fans, I feel very good here. The things Fonseca has to say, he says to your face. He’s a very direct person and he’s helping me improve.”
