Manchester United have a free run in the race to sign Jonathan David

According to The Express, Manchester United is considering signing striker Jonathan David from the French club, Lille. It seems that the Red Devils have a free pass on the 22-year-old this summer.

It’s no secret that Cristiano Ronaldo has made it obvious that he wants to leave, therefore the Red Devils are reportedly preparing to live without him.

His dissatisfaction was mostly caused by the team’s inability to make it to the Champions League. He stated his desire to continue competing at the highest level even at this duration of his career.

Jorge Mendes is working hard to secure a transfer for his client to a Champions League playing team. Ronaldo currently has few options after being rejected by Chelsea and Bayern Munich in the past. The 37-year-old informed the manager that he will not participate in the preseason tour, citing “personal matters” as the basis for his decision.

Jonathan David Is Gaining The Attention Of The Red Devils

Ronaldo’s demands would be plenty to fuel rumors that the team would start looking to add a new striker. In the current transfer window, the former Ajax manager would still be seeking new players.

Erik Ten Hag is also considering other offensive options. Jonathan David of Lille is among the top young forwards in the French Ligue right now.

David is a typical fox-in-the-box striker, yet he moves well off the ball and moves with breakneck pace. Whether shooting it with strength or aiming for accuracy with the side of his foot, he is a skilled finisher who nets a variety of goals.

Even though United are certain that Ronaldo is not for sale, it is expected that he will find a new home. This would force Ten Hag to move his plans to introduce a new striker.

Is There Any Other Way Out For Manchester United, If They Fail To Land A Striker This Summer?

In 47 appearances for Lille last season, the 22-year-old scored 19 goals. He is currently available for about £55 million. The former AS Monaco has the capability to spearhead the team under Ten Hag.

After several loan spells, he would try to be in his best shape again. Currently, the manager has put faith in Anthony Martial. The French striker has scored three goals in three games so far.

Martial has been looking like a different type of player in the past few games. His finishing skills have been sharp and his movement has improved significantly.

The club would still have the option to rely on the French striker to be their top forward.
